Day 1 – Arrive Reykjavik
Upon arrival at the airport in Reykjavik, you will be transferred to the hotel for check-in. After some time to relax and settle in, join your fellow travelers during a welcome dinner.
Note: if you wish to spend more time in Reykjavik, ask your Personal Vacation Manager about the optional hotel extension – which will add one night to your Reykjavik hotel stay.

Day 2 – Reykjavik
After breakfast, we’ll set off to explore the world’s northernmost capital city. When Norse chieftain Ingolfur Arnarson established a small settlement here in AD 874, he named it Reykjavik—or “smoky bay,” due to the steam rising from hot springs. Our drive will take us past several city landmarks, including Höfði House, site of a historic summit in 1986 between Reagan and Gorbachev; and Reykjavik’s iconic church, Hallgrímskirkja. We’ll also learn about the geothermal activity responsible for “smoky bay” during a visit to Perlan, a dome-shaped museum perched on a hill. Along with exhibits on Iceland’s unique geology and volcanic activity, the museum features an outdoor viewing platform that provides panoramic views of Reykjavik.
Then, we’ll have lunch in a local restaurant in Reykjavik. Afterwards, you can stay in town and stroll through the craft shops or return to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day on your own.

Day 3 – The Golden Circle
We’ll begin our Golden Circle discoveries at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which are slowly drifting apart and forming visible fissures. In 930 AD, Viking settlers established the Alþingi here, one of the world’s earliest parliamentary assemblies; Thingvellir means “assembly fields" or “fields of parliament.”
After lunch in a local greenhouse, we’ll visit a geothermal valley of hot springs and boiling mud pots, with steaming vents, bubbling pools, and mineral-rich ground shaped by intense underground heat. Nearby, Strokkur reliably erupts several times each hour, shooting a powerful plume of hot water up to around 100 feet and more into the air. Our final stop is the waterfall that put the gold in the Golden Circle, Gullfoss (Golden Falls). The beauty of this powerful, two-tier waterfall plunging into a deep canyon is further enhanced by its idyllic surroundings. After returning to our hotel in Reykjavik, the remainder of the day is yours.

Day 4 – Reykjavik Embarkation
After breakfast, we’ll head to Reykjavik’s harbor where you’ll board the Celebrity Silhouette and begin your epic Journey from Reykjavik to Reykjavik as you make a full circle around Iceland to witness the pristine lands at the edge of the Arctic Circle.

Day 5-22 – Cruising onboard the Celebrity Silhouette
Ports of call include Seydisfjordur, Akureyri and Isafjordur, Iceland; Qaqortoq, Greenland; St John’s, Newfoundland; Halifax, Nova Scotia, disembarking in Boston.

Day 10 – Blue Lagoon Shore Excursion
On the Celebrity Silhouette’s return visit to Reykjavik, you’ll enjoy an Exclusive Shore Excursion to visit Iceland’s iconic Blue Lagoon. A misty, man-made oasis in the middle of a black lava field, the Blue Lagoon is filled with warm, mineral-rich geothermal waters maintained at a steady 100°F. You can take a relaxing soak, enjoy the silica-rich waters and apply natural mud masks, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Day 23 – Boston Disembarkation
Enjoy breakfast onboard, then disembark the Celebrity Silhouette and transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

More Information
What to Know Before You Go
The land portion of the trip should be considered moderate. Guided tours may include a considerable amount of walking, while free time allows you to explore on your own at your own pace.
Walking on diverse types of land, roads, stairs, and being exposed to many different natural elements will be part of the trip. A few of the natural environments explored during this Journey are National Parks, waterfalls, volcanoes and hot springs. Walking a moderate to long distance will be necessary to view natural wonders at certain locations.
When visiting the Blue Lagoon, please remember to pack a bathing suit and change of clothes. It must be packed in a bag/backpack that will fit in the locker. Towels, lockers and showers will be provided. While at the Blue Lagoon, it is recommended to drink lots of water to stay hydrated, use conditioner in your hair before and after (the water is not harmful but will dry out your hair), remove all jewelry, and wear sunglasses. The temperature can vary between day and night, so pack accordingly with items that can be layered. Some guests may wish to have a light sweater or windbreaker with them. You will be walking long distances to reach some destinations, so comfortable and sturdy walking shoes are suggested.
Enrichment Journeys will do everything in our power to ensure comfort through our third-party providers, including air-conditioned buses and comfortable accommodations where applicable. However, some areas cannot be accessed by coach, so our drivers will get you as close to sites as is legally allowed. Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are strongly recommended. Historical sites often do not have elevators, escalators, or ramps due to the age of the building/structure. Steps can be steep and uneven. Based on crowds and traffic, order of visits may be changed. You may have to walk a moderate distance to transfer to coach stations and airport terminals. Time spent on the road and traveling can be long, so you will need to be prepared for stretches of down time in between destinations.
Wheelchair access at many sites is limited. A fold-up wheelchair may be able to be stored on the bus but requires prior arrangements. Guests must be able to transfer from their chair to the transportation. Guides/drivers are not allowed to lift or push wheelchairs, so guests requiring physical assistance must travel with a companion who can assist. Motorized wheelchairs and scooters cannot be accommodated on this group program.
Included airfare is from select airports only. To inquire about a different airport, please contact your Personal Vacation Manager.
Enrichment Journeys is committed to providing remarkable experiences at extraordinary value. As a result, airlines and routes are selected to maximize that value and may involve multiple stops and extended layovers versus non-stop or direct flights. Passengers wishing to utilize specific carriers, direct/non-stop flights, Business Class upgrades, or to extend their time in any of our beginning or ending destination cities may do so by contacting Enrichment Journeys and inquiring about the Custom Airfare Program. There is a $100 per person charge for this service, however this charge will be applied toward any flights or upgrades you choose to purchase. The $100 charge must be paid prior to receiving a custom air quote.
To travel internationally, you must have a passport in good condition, and it must be valid for at least 6 months after the last day of your trip. Visa requirements change frequently and for various reasons. As a result, our Personal Vacation Managers are not always able to provide visa information. The best way to obtain up-to-date information regarding visa requirements is to visit the official US government website for Americans traveling abroad, Travel.State.Gov (Canadian citizens should visit https://travel.gc.ca/, for all other countries please visit your government website or local embassy), which details specific information on the countries you would like to visit, including visa requirements. You may also use a third-party visa service, such as Expedited Travel. These services require an additional service fee but make the process of applying for a visa much simpler.
To extend a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your Journey, please speak to a Personal Vacation Manager for assistance in making those arrangements.
If you are interested in customizing your Journey, pairing it with a different cruise, or arranging a private tour for your party, you may be interested in our Private Journeys program. You can learn more about this program here, or speak to a Personal Vacation Manager for more information.
